It was definitely a love thing when 200-plus music industry folk gathered at a Nashville restaurant to congratulate keith urban on the Gold record certification of his self-titled solo debut album.
Steve Wariner, co-writer of keith's current hit, "Where The Blacktop Ends," presented his friend with the brand new Steve Wariner model Takamine guitar so new that he only had the prototype on hand. Chris Cagle said he was proud to be keith's labelmate, and gave him a gift box of Australian wine. "I know you can't get home much, so I thought I'd bring a piece of home to you," Chris said.
Capitol President Mike Dungan told the crowd that when he first came to the label, he asked the staff to answer a few questions for him, and learned that every single person at the label "absolutely loved keith urban and would walk through a wall for him." He then called up all the VPs from the label to help him present keith with his Gold Record plaque.
