Urban Emerges from Rehab, Ready for Road

After three months and 12 steps, Keith Urban is out of rehab.

Nicole Kidman's country-singing spouse has completed a stint at the Betty Ford Center in Palm Springs, California, his publicist, Paul Freundlich, confirmed Tuesday to E! News. Urban voluntarily checked himself into the facility last October to treat alcohol abuse.

No further details were disclosed, and it's not known exactly when Urban left the facility. Earlier Tuesday he issued a press release touting an upcoming European tour, and People magazine spotted the Grammy winner alongside Kidman at the Creative Artists Agency's private Golden Globes after-party Monday night.

Kidman and Urban have remained in close contact since he began treatment.

In addition to her frequent visits to the facility, the couple spent the holidays together in Sydney. Sightings of the A-listers on their Down Under home turf spawned speculation that Urban had already completed his stint in rehab, but his rep shot down such reports.

Freundlich said at the time that Urban, who previously sought treatment for cocaine abuse, took a brief leave for the holidays and would resume treatment upon returning to the U.S.

Now that he's completed rehab, Urban is planning to hit the road.

Exact dates for the Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy World Tour are still being finalized, but he will tune up with a handful of intimate club shows in the U.K. and Germany in April, before launching his arena run in Australia in May. The chart topper is aiming to bring the road show to the U.S. and Canada in June.

Urban's Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing was released Nov. 7 and, despite his inability to make the promotional rounds in support of his fifth studio album, still managed to take the honky-tonk world by storm, reaching number one on Billboard's country album charts.

He is expected to jet off to Germany on Thursday for a promotional TV appearance in support of the album before returning to the States in time for the Grammy Awards on Feb. 11. Urban is up for Best Male Country Vocal Performance of the Year for his single "Once in a Lifetime."

Nicole Kidman was injured in a car accident on the Los Angeles set of her latest movie The Invasion on Wednesday.

The Oscar winner was taken to hospital when a sports car she was riding in slammed into a post at more than 70km/h.
Kidman was released "shortly after" being admitted.

A steel trailer built around the Jaguar probably saved her life.

The crash was filmed by paparazzi and footage of the accident was on a Hollywood gossip website within hours.

One crew member can be heard yelling: "Are you OK?"

Some crew members hold a sheet up to protect Kidman from paparazzi, but the shaken 39-year-old actor is shown walking away from the car.

She walks slowly, but does not seem to be injured.

"Eight people, one of them Nicole Kidman, were in the car," LA police said.

Kidman was due to return to the set yesterday. She was being comforted by her husband, country crooner Keith Urban, who had been on the set before the accident with Kidman's son, Connor.

Kidman is being paid a record $21.8 million for The Invasion.

In the high-action scene, Kidman was inside the car as five stuntmen, who play zombie-like creatures in the remake of the 1956 classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, clung to the outside of the vehicle.

The sci-fi film, co-starring Daniel Craig, is set for release in Australia in September.

In The Invasion, Kidman plays a psychiatrist who discovers an world epidemic has an extraterrestrial origin. Her son becomes infected, forcing her to find a cure. ~ with AAP

Keith Urban to kick off concert dates in Phoenix

by By The Associated Press
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Keith Urban will launch the North American leg of his world tour June 8 in Phoenix, marking his return to U.S. concert stages after undergoing treatment for alcohol abuse.
"I'm looking forward to getting back on the road, to reconnecting with everyone and to doing what it is that I love to do," he said in a statement released Thursday. "To finally be able to present the songs from ‘Love, Pain (& and the whole crazy thing)' live, is something that I've been looking forward to doing since recording the album."

Other stops on the 33-city North American tour include San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, Las Vegas, Dallas, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Memphis, St. Louis, Houston and several other cities, according to the release.

Dates were not immediately available for most of the U.S. and Canadian concerts, but a complete schedule was expected to be posted on his Web site Thursday.

Tickets are set to begin going on sale Feb. 3, though advance tickets will be offered through his fan club and retailer Target.

Urban recently completed a three-month stay at the Betty Ford Clinic in Rancho Mirage, Calif., forcing him to delay the tour and promotional appearances for "Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing," his latest album.

On Monday, he posted a video on his Web site in which he praised his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, and thanked fans for their support.

Urban, who has publicly acknowledged a former addiction to cocaine, said he checked himself into the clinic on Oct. 19 for what he thought would be a 30-day visit.

He said he decided to stay for three months because he realized that learning to abstain was only part of the process to recovery.

Urban and Kidman, both 39, were wed last June in Australia, where both grew up. They live in Nashville.

Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman Fall in Love All over Again

The Aussie power couple have certainly had their share of rough spots since their romantic wedding in late June.  Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were used to the paparazzi crush, but when the country music legend hit a rough patch and entered rehab in October many wondered if the young marriage could take it.

Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman Fall in Love All Over Again

The came a host of incendiary charges from a model named Amanda Wyatt that ranged from wild unprotected sex with her to drug use by Keith and this model.  Those charges were basically ignored by the couple while Keith concentrated on treatment and Nicole concentrated on support for her man.

That appears to have paid off.  A report from American magazine Life & Style Weekly has an item in this week's edition that says the still newlyweds are falling in love all over again.  A chatty friend of Nicole's tells the weekly entertainment magazine that they are determined to reinvent their seven month marriage.

The source adds, "They now know they need to rebuild trust, keep on top of his recovery program, and attend counseling."  According to the friend that should not be a problem as they are "100 percent committed."

That was quite apparent when Keith first spoke out as he left rehab.  “My wife stayed extraordinarily strong and loving,” Urban said in a video statement posted online.
